Au Matin Calme
We were greeted with a smile and ordered some food and drinks. Merkel tried a raspberry hot chocolate and a salami sandwich, Myrtle chose a coffee and a strawberry tart and I decided on a regular hot chocolate and a coconut friand.
Coconut friand, $2.20
The coconut friand was quite nice and not too sweet, however I found it to be a little dry. For $2.20 it was a good choice and I was happy enough. We started to eat our treats while we waited for our drinks...and waited...and waited. I do not think many staff were rostered on this particular afternoon, hence the wait.
Hot chocolate, $4.00
The hot chocolate was funnily enough served in a mug, with 'a cup of coffee' written upon it in French. The chocolate could have been stronger but overall, it was a good hot chocolate.
Ride and Fall Temperance Lounge / Galaxy Lartay
We then travelled to East Terrace for some more treats. We ordered a drink each and skipped the food as we were all much too full for anything further. Merkel purchased an iced chocolate, Myrtle a coffee and I chose the mango honey and orange juice smoothie.
Mango, honey and orange juice smoothie, $6.50
I ordered the mango smoothie as it sounded tasty and because I am trying to teach myself to like mango. My first mango experience this year was a mango lassi at Alan's house in Sydney. It was good and very filling. Second experience was this smoothie. It was fantastic; refreshing (ok, a bit too cold too, my fingers actually turned BLUE!), thick and smooth. Third experience was a mango lassi I prepared in the morning and took to work....not so good...too mango-ey.... Preparing it myself, I had to cut up the mango and scoop out the flesh and I can't stand the smell! Everyone seems to adore mangoes, what is wrong with me? Do we have any converted mango enthusiasts in the audience?
A small meet up, a delightful afternoon!
Wow, that was short and sweet!
Ohhh, I had something to ask you all. Before the meet up I was ay Myer looking at food processors and choppers. The sales assistant told me a chopper would be better for my needs, as I wished to chop nuts to make meal. On Sunday afternoon I returned to Myer and purchased a Kenwood C250 multi blade chopper :)

Ooo new toy!
Upon returning home, I read the instruction booklet to find that this machine will not achieve the consistency of ground almonds. Ugh! Back to Myer for a refund....I need to do some online baking and make sure that went through. I do not trust anyone!
Would be good if sales assistants read the instruction booklets...
Question is now, does anyone know of a good processor/chopper for achieving almond meal consistency? Or, do you think it is just cheaper to continue buying almond meal, when factoring in the electricity costs of such a machine. I do not know... It would be strange for me to use a machine for cooking anyway; I still whisk eggs with a hand whisk, mix with a spoon and have not used my home microwave....ever.

I've tried making my own almond meal and have come to the conclusion that I need a thermomix :P That was an easy decision. Problem is I can't afford one :P

Mmmmmmm cocoa. It's so good. I have 3-5 each day at work:) They're addictive!
No....I returned it....:(
Yes me, I am a long-ago converted mango (and coriander) enthusiast. The first time I ever smelt a cut mango, it reminded me of (forgive me) vomit! Love them now, so keep persevering!
